Best Weapons for Every PUBG Map — April 2026 Data

MontedorApril 10, 2026

Not every weapon works the same on every map. A gun that dominates on Miramar's open desert might underperform in Sanhok's tight jungle corridors. So instead of guessing, we looked at the numbers.

This is our April 2026 breakdown — built from data collected across millions of real PUBG matches played over the past two weeks. No tier lists based on opinions, no patch-note speculation — just what players are actually doing in games right now and the results they're getting.

Here's what we found.

A Quick Note About Shotguns

Before we get into the maps, you'll notice shotguns — especially the Winchester and S686 — sitting at or near the top of almost every map. This might seem surprising, but it makes sense when you think about how PUBG plays out.

Shotguns have an extremely high kill-per-shot ratio. When someone fires a shotgun, it almost always means they're in a close-range fight where the shot connects and results in a kill. Compare that to an AR where players spray dozens or hundreds of rounds per match — many of those shots are suppressive fire, long-range pokes, or missed sprays.

So while shotguns top the kill leaderboards, they represent a very specific type of fight: close-range, high-lethality encounters at under 10 meters. The weapons you'll actually be carrying for most of the match — and the ones that matter across varied combat situations — are the ARs, SMGs, DMRs, and SRs listed right after them.

With that in mind, let's dive into each map.

Erangel

Average kill distance: 38.8m

Erangel is the original battleground and it shows in the weapon data. This map rewards versatility — you need something that works at medium range in the open fields but can also handle CQC in towns like Pochinki and Georgopol.

Top weapons by kills (April 2026):

WeaponTypeKillsAvg Distance
WinchesterShotgun200K+8.1m
M416AR194K+30.3m
AUG A3AR186K+32.5m
S686Shotgun139K+8.1m
MP5KSMG135K+21.0m
ACE32AR124K+25.7m
AKMAR118K+24.4m

The takeaway: After shotguns, the M416 and AUG A3 absolutely dominate Erangel. Both are versatile ARs that perform well at the 30m+ engagements this map is known for. The MP5K is the go-to SMG for building fights. If you're looting on Erangel and see an AUG, pick it up — the data says it's delivering.

Miramar

Average kill distance: 45.0m

Miramar has the longest average kill distance of any map, and the weapon data reflects it. This is sniper and AR territory.

Top weapons by kills (April 2026):

WeaponTypeKillsAvg Distance
AUG A3AR162K+33.2m
M416AR144K+31.0m
WinchesterShotgun138K+8.2m
AKMAR111K+24.8m
Kar98kSR107K+188.8m
MP5KSMG103K+21.7m
Beryl M762AR103K+27.2m

The takeaway: The AUG A3 takes the crown on Miramar, outperforming even the M416. The Kar98k makes a strong appearance with kills at an average of nearly 189 meters — pure sniper territory. If you're dropping Miramar, prioritize an AR + SR loadout.

Vikendi

Average kill distance: 37.7m

Vikendi sits in the middle ground — not as open as Miramar but not as tight as Sanhok. The snow map rewards accurate mid-range shooting.

Top weapons by kills (April 2026):

WeaponTypeKillsAvg Distance
AUG A3AR76K+27.4m
M416AR71K+26.1m
Beryl M762AR67K+23.1m
MP5KSMG62K+20.2m
ACE32AR56K+22.8m
M24SR49K+164.7m
AKMAR36K+22.6m

The takeaway: ARs absolutely dominate Vikendi. The top 3 non-shotgun weapons are all assault rifles, and the Beryl M762 punches particularly hard here. The M24 is the sniper of choice at 165m average kill distance. Shotguns drop significantly compared to other maps — the terrain doesn't funnel fights into close quarters as often.

Sanhok

Average kill distance: 27.6m

Sanhok is the smallest standard map and it plays like it. The average kill distance is nearly half of Miramar's, meaning fights are closer and faster.

Top weapons by kills (April 2026):

WeaponTypeKillsAvg Distance
WinchesterShotgun22K+8.8m
M416AR19K+28.2m
AUG A3AR19K+30.1m
MP5KSMG17K+21.3m
Beryl M762AR15K+25.2m
ACE32AR14K+24.3m
UMP45SMG12K+21.4m

The takeaway: SMGs shine on Sanhok more than any other map. The MP5K and UMP45 both crack the top 7, which doesn't happen on bigger maps. The jungle terrain funnels engagements into 20–25m range where SMGs compete directly with ARs. If you land Bootcamp, grab whatever shoots fast.

Taego

Average kill distance: 37.1m

Taego is an 8x8 map with a huge variety of terrain — from open rice paddies to dense urban areas. The weapon data reflects that diversity.

Top weapons by kills (April 2026):

WeaponTypeKillsAvg Distance
AUG A3AR226K+33.8m
WinchesterShotgun190K+9.0m
M416AR148K+31.4m
Beryl M762AR134K+27.9m
MP5KSMG127K+23.2m
S686Shotgun126K+8.9m
AKMAR109K+25.5m

The takeaway: The AUG A3 is the undisputed king of Taego with over 226K kills — more than any other weapon on any map this month. Taego's open terrain and compound fights create the perfect conditions for the AUG's accuracy at 30m+. The M24 also makes the extended top 10 with 90K kills at 172m average — don't skip the sniper here.

Deston

Average kill distance: 36.1m

Deston brings vertical combat with its skyscrapers and a mix of urban and swamp terrain. It's one of the more varied maps in terms of engagement types.

Top weapons by kills (April 2026):

WeaponTypeKillsAvg Distance
M416AR54K+26.4m
AUG A3AR50K+28.0m
WinchesterShotgun40K+9.0m
M24SR37K+145.6m
MP5KSMG36K+20.7m
MP9SMG35K+19.9m
Beryl M762AR35K+24.0m

The takeaway: This is one of the few maps where the M416 beats the AUG A3. Deston's shorter engagement distances play to the M416's slightly better handling. The MP9 makes the top 7 only on Deston — the building-heavy gameplay gives this fast-firing SMG its moment. The M24 is the preferred sniper at 146m average.

Karakin

Average kill distance: 30.0m

Karakin is the smallest map in rotation — a tiny, intense desert island where you're never far from a fight.

Top weapons by kills (April 2026):

WeaponTypeKillsAvg Distance
MP5KSMG7.4K+23.7m
WinchesterShotgun6.4K+9.7m
S686Shotgun5.2K+10.0m
M416AR4.7K+44.0m
UMP45SMG4.2K+25.0m
Saiga12Shotgun4.1K+9.0m
AUG A3AR3.9K+43.7m

The takeaway: Karakin is the only map where an SMG — the MP5K — leads the entire weapon chart including shotguns. The cramped buildings and tight compounds create non-stop close-range fights. Three shotguns make the top 7 here, more than any other map. When ARs do get kills on Karakin, it's at 44m — longer than you'd expect, suggesting they're used for the brief open-field rotations between compounds.

Haven

Average kill distance: 41.5m

Haven is PUBG's urban playground — a dense cityscape with tight streets and vertical buildings.

Top weapons by kills (April 2026):

WeaponTypeKillsAvg Distance
AUG A3AR123K+33.0m
M416AR117K+31.2m
WinchesterShotgun90K+9.4m
JS9SMG82K+22.6m
Beryl M762AR81K+27.0m
MP5KSMG79K+22.3m
M24SR66K+179.6m

The takeaway: Haven is the only map where the JS9 breaks into the top 5 overall. The dense urban layout creates corridors where an SMG with good handling beats a slower AR. The M24 makes an appearance at 180m — those long street sightlines give snipers clear shots between buildings.

The Overall Pattern

After looking at every map, some clear patterns emerge this April:

The AUG A3 is the best all-around weapon in PUBG right now. It leads on Erangel, Miramar, Vikendi, Taego, and Haven. If you see one, pick it up — the data doesn't lie.

The M416 is the reliable second choice and actually beats the AUG on Deston where engagement distances are shorter.

SMGs matter more than you think. The MP5K appears in the top 7 of every single map, and on Karakin it's the number one killer overall. Don't ignore SMGs as a secondary weapon.

Snipers are map-dependent. The Kar98k shines on Miramar (189m avg kills), but on smaller maps like Sanhok and Karakin, snipers barely register. Match your loadout to the map.

Shotguns are everywhere but they represent a very specific combat scenario. They have the highest kill-per-shot ratio of any weapon class because they're only fired at point-blank range. The Winchester and S686 are brutally effective at what they do — but "what they do" is limited to the first 10 meters.
